Nicosia, 26 July 11 (T.A.K.): Occupancy rate of resorts in TRNC run at 80-85 percent, despite the travel and economic sanctions imposed on Turkish Cypriots.

Attending a promotional event of TRNC at Izmir in Turkey, Unal Ustel, Minister for Tourism said Tourism was the locomotive sector of Northern Cyprus Economy, nevertheless embargoes and sanctions imposed by the world, brought some difficulties with it.

Citing the cooperation with Turkey’s Embassy in TRNC, Unal Ustel said that, as the result of cooperation, charter flights from 13 counties were started. Ustel, adding that, despite existing international oppression and embargoes, hotels have reached to 80-85 percent occupancy rate this year.

Large scale campaign was launched in Turkey to promote TRNC’s tourism, with the involvement of tourism ministries in both countries.
